Many videos on YouTube now run paid advertisements before and during videos for the purpose of monetization and to generate additional revenue. While watching these ads can help support content creators that you like, sometimes you don’t want to watch a 30 second ad for a 15 second video. Luckily, ad blocking extensions available for most browsers allow you to skip these ads entirely. If you’re on a mobile device, you can use an ad blocking browser to skip the ads.
1.Click the Menu button (☰) and select “More tools” → “Extensions.” This will open a new tab with your installed extensions.
2.Click “Get more extensions” at the bottom of the list. This will open the Chrome web store.
3. Search for “ad block” and expand the “Extensions” results. This will return a list of extensions that can block ads, including YouTube ads.

4.Browse through the results to find a good ad blockers. You will see a lot of results for your search. Find extensions that have lots of good reviews. Note that even though some extensions will have similar names, they are all from different companies. Some of the more popular extensions include: Click the “Add to Chrome” button to install the extension. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to install it.
Try a YouTube video. After installing the new extension, it should start working immediately. You’ll see the extension’s logo to the right of the address bar. Visit YouTube and try watching a video to see if the ads still load.
- Some extensions may require you to restart Chrome in order to start working. You’ll be informed if this is necessary.
